  Feeding Chihuahua Puppies

The following information is a feeding schedule you may find helpful with
your new family member. The most important dietary supplement you
can feed your new little one is “NUTRICAL”. It is medicated syrup full of
vitamins and nutrients.  It will help your little one from experiencing sugar
shock and stressing with their new home. After arriving at their new home
please continue administering Nutrical, 2tsps- 3 times a day for their first year.

# 1 - Morning feeding schedule: 1/4 to 1/2 cup of dry kibbles of your brand of choice. You may also
offer ¼ can of a high quality soft Puppy Food. Dry Food may stay out all day, but if feeding can food
pick any un-eaten portion up after 20-30 minutes and dispose of. The important thing when feeding
Chihuahua puppies is to make sure they eat, some prefer canned food verses dry food. Watch them
close, the smaller the puppy or dog the more at risk they are for low blood sugar attacks.

# 2 - Noon or Mid-day feeding schedule: 1/4 to 1/2 cup of dry kibbles of your brand of choice. At each
meal it's more important for the Chihuahua to eat something than to finish the whole bowl. In the case
of a smaller Chihuahua, they can become full it a short period of time. Again you may soften the dry
kibbles with water or substitute a high quality soft food in the place of dry kibbles.

# 3 - Evening feeding schedule: 1/4 can of puppy soft dog food. Since this is the 3rd meal of the day
you should put out less, unless your Chihuahua only ate a small amount at noon.

If you have a picky eater you can change to Pro-Plan or Purina One for puppies or Pro-Plan Salmon based
Canned Food for Adults. Even though canned food may not be the first choice of most puppy owners,
it more important that your puppy eat. Even if it is canned food.

Remember to take your Puppy out after each meal. Give your puppy 10 minutes and then take
them to the appropriate area to go potty. Consistency is the key to potty training your little one.
